So I was subbing in the Middle School the other day and I passed a little third grade girl as I walked by the elementary. She spotted me and ran up to give me a hug. That in itself was not unusual, but what she said to me was. Here’s the conversation:
“Mr. Shoe! When are you coming back?”
“I can’t come back full-time honey. But I’ll sub as much as I can.”
“Oh good. I love you more than Twinkies!”
I swear that may have been the nicest thing a kid has ever said to me. I mean, c’mon. Twinkies? At that point, my friends, my day was complete.
Teachers, don’t ever take these moments for granted.
