Posts Tagged ‘Actors and Anchormen and their “craft.”’

So I’m listening to ESPN Radio today and I hear one of the SportsCenter 1anchors being interviewed. At one point he began referring to his “craft.” I must tell you I had to shake my head and chuckle. Doesn’t he just sit there and read from the teleprompter? I know the anchors write their own stuff, but how is that a “craft”?

I hear this from those people who pretend to be other people all the time as well. You know who I mean. They’re called actors? Always refining their “craft.” You can see and hear them all the time, just droning on and on about how they studied for months so they could do a good job of pretending to be a pirate or a race car driver or something.

Hell, I had plenty of students over the years who were great at this “craft”, seemingly being good, innocent kids when in reality they were evil, soulless beings pretending to be human. Apparently it isn’t that difficult.

So, attention actors and anchors – don’t refer to your craft around me unless you can build me a fancy corner cabinet or sculpt me a nice statue or something. Now those are crafts.

On a related note, don’t expect me to call you “doctor” unless you can take out my appendix.

Thanks for allowing me to vent. Not that you could have stopped me. If ya don’t like it start your own damn blog.

Have a great evening.
