Hey everyone!

This coming Tuesday, November 2nd is Election Day. It is an important day regarding the future of the Paint Valley Local School District. On the ballot is a renewal levy and six PV Board of Education candidates. Below is information regarding both the levy and board candidates.

The levy is simply the renewal of a levy that has been in place since 1981. This levy will not result in any new or additional taxes for local residents. This renewal levy can only be used to help maintain or improve the district’s buildings, facilities and equipment. Some examples of how the permanent improvement dollars have been used in the past are heating and cooling technology, security upgrades, water and sewer maintenance, parking lots, handicap ramps, bus radios, and grounds equipment. As you can see, this levy is extremely important to our district’s future in the maintaining of our buildings and grounds.

As for the school board race, there are six candidates running for three open positions. Below are all the candidates that will be on the ballot, listed in alphabetical order. As far as I know only the three challengers have released announcements, and they were also the only three who attended the Meet the Candidates Night organized by the Paint Valley teachers held at the Paxton Theatre in Bainbridge. I’ve included their announcements below. If anyone has official announcements from the other three candidates send them to me and I’ll be happy to make the additions. All candidates are running for 4-year terms.

Kate Drees – Kate was appointed to the Paint Valley Board in 2018. This is her first election with opposition.

Cassidy Drummond

Sara Horsley

Beverly Ross

Shawn Skaggs – Shawn has served on the Paint Valley Board since being elected in 2013 and ran unopposed in 2017.

Wes Spradlin – Wes has served on the Paint Valley Board since being elected in 2013 and ran unopposed in 2017.

Thank you in advance for continuing to support our district! More importantly, don’t forget to vote!
