Posts Tagged ‘Cool Animal of the Day: The Leopard Slug’

Leopard Slugs look all leopardy and whatnot, don’t they? They’re actually the biggest slug, which is sort of cool. The Leopard Slug is native to Europe but was brought here by Slug Smugglers in the 1700’s. I totally made that last part up but I really wanted to type “Slug Smugglers”. They were brought here from Europe, though. Coolest fact: Leopard Slugs have a very unusual and distinctive mating method where the pair of slugs use a thick thread of mucus to hang suspended in the air from a tree branch or other structure while they do the dirty. That’s sort of sexy and disgusting at the same time. Anywho, Leopard Slug.
