Cool Animal of the Day: The Amazonian Royal Flycatcher

Posted: March 13, 2017 in Animals, Nature, Things I Love

Check out the Amazonian Royal Flycatcher, man. Just sportin’ that crest like a flamboyant little boss. Dude looks like he’s ready for a night out with the ladies, man. This little bro is found in forests and woodlands throughout most of the Amazon Basin. He’s about 6.5  inches in length and likes to dart out from branches to catch flying insects, because really who doesn’t?  Fun fact: Amazonian Royal Flycatchers build very large nests, sometimes up to 6-feet long, on branches near the water. That’s a helluva crib for a 6-inch little bird. The nest hangs over the water which makes it hard for predators to reach. That’s genius. Anyhoo, Amazonian Royal Flycatcher.

Gimme a holler.
