The Sign of the Horns: Get It Right, People!

Posted: October 10, 2014 in Music, Rock Music, Things I Hate

Listen, I’m not going to get into the whole history of the Sign of the Horns. It includes a lot of controversy involving some bro named Satan, and I really have no desire to go there. That said, over the years the sign has become a symbol of Heavy Metal and Rock and Roll in general.

It might come as a surprise to some that one of the sign’s first appearances in rock history was on a Beatles album (Yellow Submarine, search it up on the Goggle). Anyway, Ronnie James Dio, KISS and other bands popularized it as a sign of Rock and Roll, and it is still used today.

Often incorrectly.

Kids out there, please pay close attention. The Sign of the Horns is used with the palm facing outwardly, not towards you. Here is an example of the sign being used incorrectly:

Wrong, dumbass.

Wrong, dumbass.

I know. Shocking that Miley Cyrus would screw it up, huh? But let’s go to a guy who we just know will get it right:

Attaboy, W.

Attaboy, W.

I never thought I’d say this, but kids, follow George W on this one. For the love of Ozzy Osbourne, get it right!

Gimme a holler.
